The aim of many people of Scottish descent (particularly those now located abroad) is to make contact with relations still living here. Sons of Scotland have an excellent record in finding presently-living descendants of given individuals (usually a brother or sister of someone who emigrated). In the majority of cases we are not only able to identify relations, but can provide present-day home contact addresses. In cases where no childrens names are known, and since you can only have an educated guess at what someone might name their children, tracing descendants is more time consuming than tracing ancestors. Other factors such as how common a name is can affect the progress rate (there were for example 104 John Brown's born in Scotland in 1902 !)
RATE OF DESCENDANCY RESEARCH : £15 per hour (minimum 5 hours). On occasion no descendants are there to be found (an example would be if the person who emigrated had just one sibling, and after research it transpires that he/she didn't have any children). If this occurs, only a fixed charge of 2 hours research would be payable. Contact us at sonsofscotland@blueyonder.co.uk
