The basic requirement for beginning family research is knowing the details of a post-1855 event (birth/marriage/death) which occurred in Scotland. On occasion however, it is possible to identify an individual without such details (for example if you know his wife's full name, or exactly where they lived). We would establish before carrying out the research whether or not you could provide sufficient information for us to proceed.

The following options are suitable for someone who has done little or no prior ancestral research. For those who have already embarked on their ancestral research, the options can of course be altered to suit individual requirements. Please contact us to discuss.

On occasion (for example if an illegitimate child's father is not named on his birth certificate), it may be impossible to pursue the paternal line. If this occurs there will be no charge, unless we have made prior agreement to move onto the maternal line in such circumstances.

Option 1 : Ancestral research on either paternal or maternal line

Report would include the birth, marriage, death certificates, census entries and parish records of everyone on the direct paternal line (father, grandfather, great-grandfather etc). Would be e-mailed to you in the form of Word Document transcripts.

Option 2 : Ancestral research on either paternal or maternal line

As per Option 1, but displayed in a quality suede-bound album, and mailed to your home address.

Option 3 : Ancestral research on both paternal and maternal lines

Report would include the birth, marriage, death certificates, census entries and parish records of everyone on both paternal and maternal direct lines (father, grandfather, great-grandfather etc). Would be e-mailed to you in the form of Word Document transcripts.

Option 4 : Ancestral research on both paternal and maternal lines

As per Option 3, but displayed in a quality suede-bound album, and mailed to your home address.

Digital Images

To further enhance Options 2 and 4, digital images (photocopies) of the original documents can be obtained for the following : Births (1855-1906), Marriages (1855-1931), Deaths (1855-1956).
